Sounds of the Season {+ a Mini Gift Guide}

By: Jennifer Much

The holidays are one of the most magical times of the year. While many are wrapped up in the busyness of the season, there are still so many opportunities to embrace tradition, spend time with family, and celebrate joy. Even more, in the spirit of giving, we can be inspired to think beyond giving coffee mugs, trendy electronics, and socks but instead, give the gift of healing through sound!

The Most Soothing Gift
Seeing gifts under the tree is exciting and we can all appreciate a cozy sweater or two, too! But looking at the names on your list this year, what if the inspiration for gifts sways to experiences rather than materialistic baubles?

An experience like self care is especially important during the winter, and let's be honest, many of us don't get to practice it enough. By taking a moment to recharge and connect, we find balance, clarity, breathe away stress, and intimately re-piece the best version of ourselves back together. Now envision this for friends and family and you'll soon see the impact of such a wonderful gift!

Sound Massage is one of the most soothing gifts that can be given. It offers a moment to cherish time, stillness, and sound in a welcoming environment beaming with positivity. It extends a way to escape the hustle and bustle of the holidays and can be used as a stepping stone for successful resolutions of care in the New Year.

Experience Sounds of the Season
Sound Baths offer enchanting sounds, sounds of the season that instill healing. Whether you purchase a gift certificate for someone else or treat yourself, a class is an excellent way to revitalize the soul, mind and body.

During winter, Jamie offers a Stretch, Restore, and Sound Bath. The class beautifully combines restorative yoga, gentle stretches, guided meditation, and a sound bath. During the 90 minute class, participants will enjoy the relaxing experience and calming sounds of singing bowls, gong, and other healing instruments.

Best of all, this gift is perfect for everybody as no yoga experience is necessary. Allow yourself to unwind and settle in with Jamie as your guide to raise energetic vibration, restore your mind and body, and to find inner peace and harmony.

Yoga mats, props, and blankets are provided or you are welcome to bring your own. Be sure to follow Roots Yoga & Healing on social media for class information and sign up online at www.rootsyogamindbody.com

A Mini Gift Guide
Gift giving is rather personal but self care-centric presents can help those we love prioritize their well-being.

Paired with a Roots Yoga and Healing gift certificate, here are some of our favorite cozy gifts this season:

  • Weighted Blanket or Throw: A blanket, specifically weighted ones, can help reduce anxiety and promote deep relaxation. Cozy throws are also perfect to snuggle on a chilly day.
  • Wax Melts & Aromatherapy Diffusers: Consider soothing candle melts with calming scents like jasmine vanilla, eucalyptus or lavender or for a steady stream of scent, choose a diffuser. Both provide a peaceful ambiance!
  • Organic Bath & Body Products: Bath bombs, scrubs, and salts can transform a bath into a luxurious experience. Organically made body products like lotions and butters can also leave skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
  • Gratitude Journal: Writing is a great way to express feelings and reflect gratitude. Some journals feature prompts to inspire creativity and to promote mindfulness. Journals come in all shapes and sizes and offer a fitting break from the day for the writer.
  • Comfy Loungewear: Post yoga, slip into something soft and breathable for a cozy way to enjoy the day. Pajamas are also an excellent gift to encourage a peaceful night's rest.
  • Hot Beverage Kits: Tea or hot chocolate are the welcomed sips of winter that any recipient will love! Accessorize the gift with personalized trinkets or include a variety of flavors.
  • Chakra Jewelry: Giftees can find their center and have a visual reminder with a beautiful piece of Chakra jewelry. There are many styles to choose from including bracelets, rings, and necklaces.
  • Homemade Treasure: Employ a favorite hobby or skill to knit a friend a scarf, paint a piece of home decor, or to bake something delicious. The best gifts come from the heart - and care for it, too!
  • New Yoga Mat or Meditation Cushion: Yogis will appreciate starting the New Year off with a brand new mat or cushion. Pick one in their favorite color and choose one with natural materials and good support.
  • Filtered Water Bottle: Hydration is important and a water bottle is great to have after yoga. Filtered and insulated options are helpful to have.

Gifting aside, we encourage you to enjoy this time of year and take in all the sounds of the season. Breathe, relax, and focus on the well-being of yourself and others. Post holiday fun, start the New Year with a healthier, happier you!
